By a layman’s definition, Black is only a negative color. With all the unpleasant things and ideas associated with it. Most of these assertions are true. But, it shows only one side of the picture. There are other ideas related to this color too.

Black is a color to be used with caution, as its positive aspects often are closely linked to its negative aspects. Its positive meanings include protection, comfort, strong, formal, seductive, and sophisticated. Its negative meanings include aloofness, depression, sadness, and pessimism. Black suggests power, elegance and style, but also intimidation, aloofness and limited emotion. It is a color often linked with the idea of evil. Black is related to mystery and concealment. It is also a serious color traditionally used to show one’s grief.

However, there is no denying the elegance that Black adds to one’s personality. It is the most used color in formalwear by both men and women. It is often the dress code of the highest formal ceremonies like Oscars for example. Black is a favorite color of many and it deserves to be a favorite.
